The Canadian Wedding Planning Timeline: 12 Months to “I Do”
A month-by-month plan for Canadian couples, from setting your budget to the final vendor check-ins.
12 months out: set the foundation
Agree on a budget, draft your guest list and choose a season. In Canada, June to September books up first, so couples marrying in summer should secure their venue, photographer and planner as early as possible.
9 months out: book your key vendors
Caterers, florists, musicians and officiants are next. Compare two or three options in each category and ask about availability for your exact date before falling in love with anyone.
6 months out: invitations and your website
Send save-the-dates, publish your wedding website and set up a registry. Out-of-town guests appreciate hotel block details now, especially in popular destinations like Banff, Niagara and the Okanagan.
3 months out: the details
Finalise your menu, order favours and start your seating chart. Book hair and makeup trials and confirm transportation.
1 month out: confirm everything
Build a day-of timeline, share it with every vendor, and confirm final payments. Then take a breath and enjoy the lead-up.
